Do you support all foster youth in New Mexico?
HGNMF focus is on older foster youth, sibling groups, and the mildly disabled.

Why do you mostly support older foster youth?
They will soon be leaving foster care…still without a family. Therefore, they need support to enter into a productive adulthood.

What is HGNMF’s connection with New Mexico Children Youth and Families Department (CYFD)?
CYFD is the state agency that has custody of all of New Mexico’s foster children. HGNMF supplements under-funded and under-staffed programs for older foster youth.

How do you provide support for older foster youth?
Fundraising from foundations, individuals, and businesses for opportunities and or specific needs of the youth.

Do you receive state funds?
CYFD Heart Gallery receives funding specifically for Heart Gallery exhibitions and programs to promote adoption and foster parenting. CYFD contracts with the Foundation to complement many of these programs.

Is HGNMF a 501(c3) non-profit organization?
Yes, HGNMF was founded in 2006 to comprehensively serve a statewide foster youth population.

What is the Heart Gallery?
Heart Gallery is a series of fine art exhibition which were founded in New Mexico in 2001. Photographs of foster children are beautifully captured by local photographers to be presented in statewide exhibitions as a way to promote adoption as an option in family planning.  Heart Gallery exhibitions have been organized in 48 states.

What is the connection between Heart Gallery of New Mexico Foundation and Heart Gallery?
HGNMF takes it name from the Heart Gallery and is the non-profit organization that supports the Heart Gallery exhibitions as well as opportunities for older foster youth in New Mexico.
