Every positive change in someone’s life has a domino effect in our community.

HGNMF serves as a gateway for the community to help foster kids and aged-out youth. We are incredibly grateful for each individual and group who let foster youth know they matter by their acts of kindness and support.

LUVYANM monthly meeting.

  • Maestas and Ward Real Estate hosts monthly meeting until the group outgrew the space.

  • New Day youth shelter provides the kitchen to have the LUVYA youth’s annual holiday meal cooking class.

“Knots of Love” blanket making parties.

No sew fleece blankets are handmade and given to kids for comfort when they are taken out of their home.  Blankets are also given to aged-out youth as a holiday gift. Thanks to the hundreds of volunteers over the years that have given so much comfort to foster kids and our hosts.

  • UNM Lobo men’s basketball coaches wives fills stocking for aged-out youth.

  •  “Pursonalities”, a group that fills purses with toiletry items as holiday gifts. 

  • Bev Preece makes beautiful handmade stocking and dolls.

  • St. Pius school filled special teen girl purses.

  • Handmade fleece blankets are given each year.

Toiletry drives

Choosing between food and toiletries or cleaning supplies is a reality for aged-out foster youth. These valued partners host toiletry drives to provide the essential needs.

  • Sue Darnell and PNM have hosted two toiletry drives for LUVYA youth.

Community Engagement

  • Governor Susana Martinez hosted the annual high school and college graduation celebration at the Governor’s Mansion for 6 years.

  • Steve Stucker Emcees the annual “Open Your Heart” Gala

  • Mattress Firm has given hundreds of new queen beds to aged out foster youth.

  • Aspen Printing has donated all HGNMF’s printing needs since 2009

  • Adobe Productions has donated all the audio/video to the annual gala.

  • The Philanthropic Educational Organization offers educational grants to women.

  • Stephanie Gatlin hosted a table at PNM to spread awareness.

  • The Santa Fe Opera donates tickets for youth to attend the Opera.

  • The Colt Balock show featured HGNMF.

  • Systems Go donated a teambuilding class making and launching rockets.

  • Albuquerque NAIOP collected and donated backpacks for foster kids.

  • The New Mexico Bowl donates 90 game tickets to foster families so they could have a family day out.

  • Mattress Firm has donated tickets to the Isotopes baseball game so foster families could have a fun family day.

  • The Junior League gives diapers to aged out youth who are parents.

  • The Heart of Cabi hosted a clothing donation event and included independent living youth as beneficiaries.  Youth were treated to “boutique shopping” with personal stylist and given five items of new clothes each.

  • In Plain Sight, the TV series, donated a moving van full of furniture and household items used on their sets after the series ended. 

  • PNM Foundation continues to support HGNMF through grants, volunteer participation, and continued partnerships.


Public Awareness

Many myths and untruths exist in the public mind about foster children, foster parenting, and adoption. Through public awareness campaigns the Foundation provides facts and reality to replace myths and untruths.


New Mexico True

Heart Gallery was founded in Santa Fe NM in 2001. The concept has spread to all 50 states and internationally. Thousands of foster children have found safe loving forever families as a result.
